چکیده

Celluloid in museum collections is very unstable; therefore, heritage professionals carry out research studies dedicated to understanding its decay and prolonging lifetime. This paper addresses the need compare select suitable analytical methods for that purpose. Thermogravimetric analysis coupled with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, evolved gas analysis–mass spectrometry, double shot – chromatography/mass gel permeation chromatography (GPC) were employed characterize emission of gasses (decay products) measure molecular weight camphor (plasticizer) content from unaged, artificially, naturally aged celluloid samples. A pioneer GPC set-up quantification was introduced first time this study. Results demonstrated most method assessing material changes due degradation. Both set-ups, measuring quantifying camphor, appear promising effect conservation treatments investigating heterogeneous degradation objects future studies.

Thermal, Spectroscopic and Chromatographic Characterization of Biofield Energy Treated Benzophenone

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the impact of biofield energy treatment on the thermal, spectroscopic, and chemical properties of benzophenone. The study was done using various analytical methods such as gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscop...

Serum quinidine concentrations: comparison of fluorescence, gas-chromatographic, and gas-chromatographic/mass-spectrometric methods.

Serum quinidine concentrations were determined in patients on chronic therapeutic doses. Although results were higher by a protein precipitate-fluorescence method as compared to a specific extraction fluorescence method, there was substantial correlation between results by the two methods (r = 0.945, P less than 0.001). We established the specificity of the extraction method by a methylation ga...

Characterization of ozonated vegetable oils by spectroscopic and chromatographic methods.

In this work the effect of ozonation on olive oil, soybean oil, oleic-, linoleic- and linolenic acid was studied. The effects of ozonation time on the oils and acids were analyzed by 1H, 13C NMR. Further, the peroxide- and acid values, the viscosity and the molar mass were determined for pure and ozonated oils. The fatty chains in both ozonated oils showed a gradual decrease of unsaturation wit...

development of different optical methods for determination of glucose using cadmium telluride quantum dots and silver nanoparticles

a simple, rapid and low-cost scanner spectroscopy method for the glucose determination by utilizing glucose oxidase and cdte/tga quantum dots as chromoionophore has been described. the detection was based on the combination of the glucose enzymatic reaction and the quenching effect of h2o2 on the cdte quantum dots (qds) photoluminescence.in this study glucose was determined by utilizing glucose...

Gas chromatographic - mass spectrometric methods for the detection and identification of anabolic steroid drugs.

*Permission to carry out these drug studies was granted by the Northwick Park Hospital Ethical Committee. steroids. The columns were washed with water and the steroids recovered by elution with ethanol. The ethanol was taken to dryness and the residue dissolved in 0.5M acetate buffer (pH 4.6) and the steroid conjugates were hydrolysed by two enzymes present in snail digestive juice (Helix pomat...
